The client contacted us with doubts about whether the renovation of the Vinohrady apartment was going in the right direction and with uncertainty about whether he would be satisfied with the result. After a joint discussion, we evaluated the original intention to divide the apartment into two smaller ones with respect to the original house and apartment as inappropriate, so most of the interventions already in progress had to be removed.
The generosity of the original apartment in the house from the beginning of the 20th century was revealed again and provided space for layout adjustments corresponding to the current requirements of its future owners. The relatively narrow corridor behind the entrance door is adjacent to a cloakroom, thanks to which the entrance part of the apartment can remain furnished with casual simplicity. The main living space was created by directly connecting two rooms, followed by a study, the highlight of which is a sitting/lying bench in a bay window overlooking the park. The bedroom with a cloakroom and a comfortable bathroom is situated in the courtyard.
In the interior design, we combine characteristic original elements, which we tried to preserve as much as possible and thanks to their presence, the apartment retains its authenticity and period character, with carefully selected contemporary pieces. By choosing high-quality and timeless materials, we wanted to ensure that the interior does not lose its value through comfortable living and that its users feel comfortable in it throughout its use. The structure of the oak floor (hexagonal in the entrance area and hallway, parquet in the other rooms) is followed by the pattern of the joints of the tiles and tiles in the bathrooms. This "stylistic element" is further played out in scale and color, the light honey color of the wood is complemented by a range of neutral shades from white to black. Replicas of doors, including glazing with original Art Nouveau patterns, underline the copper elements, which stand out nicely against the warm gray background. Paintings and decorations that speak of the owner's sophistication and taste complete the personality of the entire interior.
